Cool season annual. This early edible podded sugar pea has white flowers. The vines are vigorous and prolific, producing many pods that are round, plump, crispy, very sweet and of excellent quality. Prefers cool temperatures. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in early to late spring after last frost or sow seeds in fall 8-10 weeks before first frost date. Keep soil moist. Heavy watering during flowering can interfere with pollination. Train to climb a vertical support at least 6' tall. Fertilize as needed with a balanced fertilizer. Too much nitrogen will produce lush foliage and result in poor flowering and fruiting. Harvest when pods begin to swell. Eat these sugar peas fresh for a healthy snack or add them to a salad.
