The Zesty Salad Garden is a mix of sweet lettuces and tender greens. Radishes offer both a hint of spice and crunch to the mix. Salad greens grown in your own garden will be full of flavor on their own, needing only the lightest of dressings. Succession planting will ensure a continuous supply of salad for your dinner table. This Garden includes one packet each of the following: Tatsoi, Champion Radish, Ruby Red Chard, Red Tango Lettuce, Little Gem Lettuce, Red Oakleaf Lettuce, and Buttercrunch Lettuce.
Broccoli Seeds - Chinese Broccoli - Kailaan. Heirloom, Non-GMO. Brassica oleracea var alboglabra. Also known as cai ro, chair lan, Chinese broccoli, Chinese kale, gailaan, gai lan, gailon, gelancai, guy lon, jie lan, kailaan, kai lan, kai lan tsoi, kairan, phakkhana, white flowering broccoli. 60-70 days. Cool season annual. It is a popular Chinese green vegetable and is grown for its stalks and leaves. This open pollinated variety has deep green color and good flavor. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in spring after last frost to early summer or late summer to early fall. Sow seeds in late spring to fall (cool areas). Can be planted year-round in subtropical areas. Keep soil moist. Harvest main stalk when about 8-10 tall and when 2-3 flowers are about to open. After this cut, the plant branches freely for an extended harvest but stems and leaves will be smaller. Blanche then stir-fry stalks, leaves and buds with garlic, a little sugar and some rice wine or boil and dress with oyster sauce. Use in soups, sukiyaki, and tempura. Can be cooked like choy sum. Blanching before cooking helps tenderize stems and leaves. ~9000 seeds an ounce."
Red Uchiki Kuri Japanese Winter Squash Seeds. Cucurbita Maxima. 85 to 95 days to maturity. Annual. Non-GMO, Heirloom, Open Pollinated. An early, improved selection of Hubbard squash. This Japanese variety has an almost smooth orange-red rind and thick creamy yellow flesh that has a very sweet and nutty flavor. Weighs about 3 lbs when mature. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in spring/summer after last frost in a warm, sunny location. Hill planting: Form soil into a 1-ft. diameter mound 3-4 tall. Space mounds 5-10' apart. On each mound plant 1-2 seeds. Row planting: See spacing info in chart. Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. Hand pollination may be necessary. The vine can be trained to climb a vertical support for better air circulation and ease of harvest or left to sprawl on the ground. These growing trays (with drain holes) are formed from dense paper and is perfect for microgreens and wheatgrass. They are intended for a single use and are fully compostable. They resist water and will hold their shape well for a single grow. The trays measure approximately 19 long by 9 inches wide and has a shallow depth of approximately 1.5 inches. It nests inside a standard 10x20 inch drip tray with plenty of room to spare. Because this growing tray is smaller than standard trays, pre-cut hydroponic pads designed for 10x20 trays won't fit it without alteration. The ideal grow media for these kits is potting soil, loose coco coir or micro mat hydroponic confetti. Ideal for selling full grown trays to restaurants, natural food grocers and at farmer's markets. Lentil is the ideal beginner sprout and a great way to introduce anyone to the simple steps of home sprouting for quick 2-3 day harvesting. Organic Black Lentil seeds are soft-shelled and only require a 4-6 hour presoak to begin germination. Because it is such a simple seed, lentil is best for trays, jars, and sacks. Annual. This popular Japanese hybrid radish (daikon) has a long, white tapered root that is mildly pungent. They can reach 16 long and weigh 1.75 lbs. It is the finest radish variety for summer to fall harvest with good heat tolerance. Resistant to mosaic virus, fusarium and has moderate bolt resistance. Spinach Seeds - Chinese - Green Arrow - Hybrid. Annual. Spinacea oleracea. Asian Type. Non GMO. Open pollinated. 40 to 60 days to maturity. Pointed Leaves in a dark green color. Slow bolting, cold and heat tolerant. Light pink root. Resistant to DM race 1-11, 14,15. Can be sowed in spring, summer and fall seasons. Spinach is a cool weather crop. Seeds prefer to germinate in cold weather. Optimal soil temperature for emergence is 10~18 ?C/50~65?F. It can be planted when soil is workable in spring. Higher soil temperature ( over 20?C/68?F) may result in sharp decrease in germination rate. Seeding in summer is not recommended. Spinach tends to bolt (seed-stalk development and flowering ) as day length, temperature and plant density increase. Water stress and inadequate nutrients increase bolting risk. Chinese Cabbage Seeds - Mansu - Hybrid. Non-GMO. Brassica rapa var pekinensis. Cool season annual. 70 to 80 days to maturity. This is a Korean loose-head type Chinese cabbage with bolting tolerance and has wide growing adaptability. Leaves are dark green with white petioles. Excellent for Korean kimchee recipes, salads, and soups. It is suitable for spring and fall sowing, and in mild temperature regions summer sowing is possible. Mansu is a good substitute for Green Seoul and it is available in untreated seed. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds or transplant seedlings in spring after danger of all frost in a sunny location. Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. Exposing plants to frost or prolonged temperatures below 50?F may result in bolting. Note: Chinese Cabbage requires vernalization. Bud differentiation and bolting results from low temperatures of 41?F for a week or 50?F for two weeks. For spring harvest, transplant seedlings with 5-7 true leaves raised at 73-75?F during the day and over 53?F at night. Providing plants with adequate water and fertilizer after transplanting will promote faster growth.
