Pepper Seeds - Sweet - Fushimi. Heirloom, Capsicum annuum. AKA ao togarashi, Japanese sweet green pepper, la jiao. 65 days. Non GMO. Warm season annual. Fushimi sweet pepper, Fushimi togarashi, is one of the Kyo-yasai, traditional vegetables,in Kyoto, Japan. This sweet Japanese pepper is thin-walled and glossy bright green. The fruits are slender, tapered and grow to 6 in length. It is very easy to grow, produces good quality and prolific harvests. Start seeds inside 6 weeks before last frost date (or 8 weeks before expected transplanting date). Keep soil warm until emergence. Seeds will not germinate in cool soil and planting out too early may affect plant vigor. Harden off plants carefully before transplanting. Prepare fertile, well drained soil. Transplant in late spring/summer (soil temperatures at least above 60?F) in a very warm and sunny location. Fertilize as needed. Too much nitrogen will produce lush foliage and few fruits. Great appetizer. Toss peppers in bowl and coat lightly with oil and salt - then to a hot frying pan. Delicious grilled. Good for tempura, salads, pickling and sauteing. About 6000 seeds per ounce."
Mung Bean - Mappe Green. Heirloom, Non-GMO. Vigna radiata. Also known as balatung, bean sprouts, Chinese green bean, dau xanh, kacang hijau, look dow, lu dou, luk dou, mongo, moyashi, moyashi mame, munatta, mung, ree dou, ryokuto, thua khieo. 7-10 days for microgreens and 70 days to full maturity. Warm season annual. Typically grown for their flavorful and crispy bean sprouts, mung beans are also grown to full maturity and cultivated for green beans. The plants are bushy, producing purplish-yellow flowers and curving 3 hairy pods with 7-9 beans in each. For large sprouts, sow seeds in spring to summer in sandy soil in a bright but cool location. Broadcast seeds on soil and cover with a thin layer. Keep uniformly moist. Harvest by cutting when seedlings reach 3-4". For smaller sprouts, use a sprouting jar indoors. Wash seeds thoroughly before planting, during growth, and wash sprouts well before eating. For green beans, prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in spring/ summer after last frost in a warm, sunny location. Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. Hand pick. Harvest filet beans when diameter is 1/8-1/4" at best and before beans start to bulge in the pods. Bean sprouts are a welcome addition to stir-fries and eaten fresh.
