Yu Choy Sum Seeds - Kosaitai - Hon Tsai Tai. Heirloom, Non-GMO. Brassica rapa var purpurea. Alternate names: beninabana, cai xin, edible rape, flowering Chinese cabbage, flowering pak choy, hong cai tai, hong tsoi sum, hon tsai tai, kosaitai, tsai hsin, yintsai sum, yu choy, yu choy sum, yui tsai, zi cai tai. 50 days. Cool season annual. This flowering purple stem choy sum, also known as kosaitai or hon tsai tai, is a popular Chinese specialty vegetable. The leaf stalks and veins are purple while the leaves are dark green and the flowers are yellow. Low temperatures intensify the colors. Best grown as a fall/winter crop--the plants will bolt early when sown in spring to summer. Kosaitai can be cut young and will re-grow for additional harvests. Prefers cool temperatures. Burdock Seeds - Gobo Takinogawa . Heirloom, Arctium lappa. Other names: ci cai ji, dong yang lu bo, edible burdock, gobo, ngao pong, niu pang, uang. 85-95 days. NonGMO. Annual. Edible burdock is an important vegetable essential in preparing the classic Japanese dish kimpira. This is a late maturing variety that has rich earthy flavor. It is the most popular variety in Japan. Mature plant can reach 3' in height and roots grow to 3-4'. Roots can be harvested in 4-5 months if planted in spring. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. For best results, avoid heavy clay soils. Sow seeds in spring or fall in a sunny location. This variety does not bolt when sown in fall. Burdock seeds will not germinate without sensing light. Seeds must be barely covered with soil. Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. Thin out weak seedlings. Use in stir-fry, ohitashi, tempura, or pickle. Corsican gourds have a round flat shape that is unique to them.They have a light medium green color and become tan when dried. They grow to be 12� in diameter by 5� tall, looking similar to a cheese wheel. Plants grow 18-24� tall with long vines. Sow seeds indoors for transplant or directly outdoors. Space hills 6� apart in full sun in the spring. After 110-130 days, gourds are ready for harvest, they can either be harvested green or left to continue to dry. Gourds often have a stem knob that makes for a great handle. Popular uses of these gourds when dried are for decoration or as a bowl. They can also be painted, drilled, and cut.
Glebionis carinata. Non-GMO. Shungiku (AKA, Three Color Daisy, Tri Color Daisy) can be grown as an edible flower, salad greens or especially as a microgreen. As a micro it has thin serrated true leaves. This light green, pretty micro has a slight crunchy texture with a strong carrot, fruit, flowery flavor that also has a mild but pleasant bitterness. Great as an additon to mixed salad greens.

The fruit are green color, growing up to 17-19 in length, 2" diameter. Gourds weigh approximately 1/2 lb. Requires a long, warm growing season. Prepare fertile, well drained soil. Sow seeds in spring/early summer after last frost in a warm, sunny location. The seed coat is hard and should be soaked in warm water for 24 hours or gently clip the seed tip to help the seed germinate. Hill planting: Form soil into a 1-ft. diameter mound 3-4' tall. To process for luffa sponges, allow gourds to hang on the vine until they are fully mature and the skin hardens/dries. Remove skin and seeds. Prepare luffa as you would zucchini. Lightly stir-fry thin slices or add to soup. Steam or deep-fry thick slices. Also delicious stuffed with pork and braised. Apx. 150 seeds an ounce."
