Eggplant Seeds - Kamo. Heirloom, Non-GMO. Solanum melongena. Alt names: ai qwa, badanjan, baingan, baingun, bangai, bangain, bhanta, brinjal, ca tim, chan che zu, chieh tse, hon pee choi, Japanese round eggplant, mackhera, makhua terung, ma khuea yaao, nasubi, ngai kwa, qie zi, talong, terong, terung, wam batu. 65 days to maturity. Warm season annual. Kamo is a highly prized traditional kyo yasai or Kyoto vegetable, from the Kamo area of Japan It has been a delicacy in that region for hundred of years. This unique fruit is round with a flat bottom, purple-black skin, purple calyx, and weighs up to 1/2 lb. Served at top restaurants in Japan, its dense flesh has a rich flavor. Start seeds inside 6 weeks before last frost date (or 8 weeks before expected transplanting date). Keep soil warm until emergence (80-90?F minimum). Seeds will not germinate in cool soil and planting out too early may affect plant vigor. Harden off plants carefully before transplanting. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Transplant in late spring/ summer (soil temperatures at least above 75?F) in a very warm and sunny location. Eggplants are heavy feeders so use a balanced fertilizer. Mustard Seeds - Early Mibuna. Heirloom, Brassica rapa var. japonica. Also known as mibuna. 21-40 days to maturity. NonGMO. Cool season annual. This traditional (heirloom) Japanese green vegetable, dento yasai, is cultivated in Mibu, Kyoto prefecture. An early open pollinated variety, this vigorous grower produces a dense cluster of long, narrow, rounded, dark green leaves. The delicious leaves have a mild mustard flavor. Cut for baby leaves as early as 21 days. This variety is cold tolerant. It is very similar to mizuna green. Prefers mild and cool temperatures. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in spring after last frost or late summer/ early fall. Avoid hot summer planting for best results. Sow seeds every 2 weeks for continuous harvest. Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. Yu Choy Sum Seeds - Kosaitai - Hon Tsai Tai. Heirloom, Non-GMO. Brassica rapa var purpurea. Alternate names: beninabana, cai xin, edible rape, flowering Chinese cabbage, flowering pak choy, hong cai tai, hong tsoi sum, hon tsai tai, kosaitai, tsai hsin, yintsai sum, yu choy, yu choy sum, yui tsai, zi cai tai. 50 days. Cool season annual. This flowering purple stem choy sum, also known as kosaitai or hon tsai tai, is a popular Chinese specialty vegetable. The leaf stalks and veins are purple while the leaves are dark green and the flowers are yellow. Low temperatures intensify the colors. Best grown as a fall/winter crop--the plants will bolt early when sown in spring to summer. Kosaitai can be cut young and will re-grow for additional harvests. Prefers cool temperatures.
