Buckwheat is the perfect smother crop, adding valuable green manure to your soil or harvesting for seed. We kind of do both. We thresh the grain for our chickens and add the stalks to the compost pile. This is THE crop for bee food. Honeybees just love buckwheat and it makes a highly sought after honey rarely found on the market anymore. You will notice that blossoms are more active in the morning when the plant produces more nectar. Remember never plant buckwheat 'til all danger of frost has passed. Don't worry though you will have blossoms in about six weeks and seeds a few weeks later. We normally plant several crops of buckwheat during the year. If you are trying to raise different varieties NEVER plant them at the same time as they cross very easily. Just raise one variety, harvest and then plant the next. No worries this is a quick crop.

Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. Exposure to frost or prolonged temperatures below 50?F may result in bolting. Note: Chinese Cabbage requires vernalization. For spring harvest, transplant seedlings with 5-7 true leaves raised at 73-75?F during the day and over 53?F at night. Providing plants with adequate water and fertilizer after transplanting will promote faster growth. Tomato Seeds - Momotaro Tough Boy 93 - Hybrid. Non-GMO. Solanum lycopersicum. 60 days after transplant. Warm season annual; Indeterminate. This is an indeterminate Japanese pink-type tomato that is medium early maturing, vigorous and medium sized leaves. Fruit weigh approximately 210 grams with excellent flavor with a high sugar content. High resistance to ToMV, Verticillium wilt, Fusarium wilt race 1 & 2, Gray leaf spot, Root-knot and intermediate resistance to Bacterial wilt. Cultivation: Start seeds inside 6 weeks before last frost date (or 8 weeks before expected transplanting date). Keep soil warm until emergence (75-80?F minimum). Seeds will not germinate in cool soil and planting out too early may affect plant vigor. Harden off plants carefully before transplanting. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Transplant in late spring/summer (soil temperatures at least above 60?F) in a warm and sunny location. Plant so that soil level is just below the lowest leaves. Train to a vertical support. Too much nitrogen will produce lush foliage and few fruits. Momotaro varieties do not like daytime temperatures above 86F and poor fruit setting will result. Temperatures above 95F most pollen die and flowers will abort. (Points for successful production) Making healthy seedlings is very important and stressed seedlings do not produce good yields. Transplanting of very young seedlings causes excessive vegetative growth. Prepare fresh or cooked. Use in stir-fries, soup or salad. Approximately 14813 seeds/ounce.
