Squash Seeds, Winter - Shark Fin Squash Gom Bo - Treated. Heirloom, Non-GMO. Cucurbita ficifolia. 90 days. Warm season annual. This squash or melon is known as Shark Fin squash, Malabar gourd, Seven Year melon. It is grown for its edible seeds, fruit, and greens. Fruit skin color is cream-white color with green stripes and average 6-8 long and 4 lbs in weight. When cooked the flesh become noodle-like. Asian cuisines use it in soups and is a good substitute for the shark fin in shark fin soup. In Asia, it is implied that eating this melon will help a diabetic condition. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in late spring/ early summer after last frost in a warm, sunny location. Seeds will rot if soil is too wet or cold. Hill planting: Form soil into a 1' diameter mound 3-4" tall. Space mounds 4-6' apart. On each mound plant 1-2 seeds. Row planting: See spacing info in chart. Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. Hand pollination may be necessary. The vine can be trained to climb a vertical support for better air circulation and ease of harvest or left to sprawl on the ground. After harvest, winter squash should be left in the sun for a few days to cure before storing.. Cut squash and remove seeds and pulp. Bake or steam for 30-45 minutes. Using a fork, remove the flesh and flake into strands. Add the noodle-like strands into your soup. Approx 125 seeds / oz."

Chinese Cabbage Seeds - Kogane. Heirloom, Non-GMO. Brassica rapa var pekinensis. 5-7 days microgreens, 70-80 days to maturity. Cool season annual. Kogane means gold in Japanese. When mature, the loose head, fluffy head type, can weigh up to 8 lbs and has a yellow core surrounded by crumpled green outer leaves. It has good flavor and is popular for pickling and cooking. Creates a nice contrast with darker greens for microgreens and baby leaf. Best grown in mild climates. Chinese cabbage prefers cool temperatures for its main growing season. This variety grows well in mild climate areas in full sun. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in spring. Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. Exposure to frost or prolonged temperatures below 50?F may result in bolting. Note: Chinese Cabbage requires vernalization. Bud differentiation and bolting results from low temperatures of 41?F for a week or 50?F for two weeks. For spring harvest, transplant seedlings with 5-7 true leaves raised at 73-75?F during the day and over 53?F at night. Providing plants with adequate water and fertilizer after transplanting will promote faster growth. This is a very vigorous and productive heirloom Chinese mustard green that is a non-heading type. The medium green leaves are tender and have good flavor.
