Red Uchiki Kuri Japanese Winter Squash Seeds. Cucurbita Maxima. 85 to 95 days to maturity. Annual. Non-GMO, Heirloom, Open Pollinated. An early, improved selection of Hubbard squash. This Japanese variety has an almost smooth orange-red rind and thick creamy yellow flesh that has a very sweet and nutty flavor. Weighs about 3 lbs when mature. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in spring/summer after last frost in a warm, sunny location. Hill planting: Form soil into a 1-ft. diameter mound 3-4 tall. Space mounds 5-10' apart. On each mound plant 1-2 seeds. Chinese Broccoli Seeds - Ryokuho - Hybrid. Non-GMO. Brassica oleracea var alboglabra. 45-50 days. Cool season annual. Chinese kale is also known as kailaan or Chinese broccoli. This excellent early maturing hybrid has vigorous growth, high yields and disease resistance. The uniform, upright plants are about 16 tall with thick tender stems with long internodes. The smooth dark green leaves have very short petioles with less wax. Thick stems, strong heat tolerance and moderate bolting resistance make this variety very desirable. Also known as Green Jade variety. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in spring after last frost to early summer or late summer to early fall. Sow seeds in late spring to fall season (cool areas), can be planted yearly around in sub-tropical area. Keep soil moist. Harvest main stalk when about 8-10" tall and when 2-3 flowers are about to open. After this cut, the plant branches freely for an extended harvest but stems and leaves will be smaller. Lettuce Seeds - Purple Tower Celtuce. Heirloom, Non-GMO. Lactuca sativa var asparagina. Also known as asparagus lettuce, celery lettuce, Chinese lettuce, jing wo ju, kaki jisha, keman ayer, kuki chisha, nen jing wo ju, ngao lei shaang tsoi, stem lettuce, stemuretasu, wo ju sun, woo chu, wo sun, wo sung. 75-85 days to maturity. Cool season annual. Chinese stem lettuce originated in southern China. Stem lettuce is grown mainly for the tasty stalk with celery-like flavor. Leaves are broad, oval-shaped and green color. Stems are thick, tender and crisp with white flesh. This is an early maturing variety and has good cold tolerance. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. In cool areas sow seeds in spring after last frost or late summer to early fall in a sunny location. Recommended to sow in seed trays in cool areas, and seedlings are transplanted later into open field. In temperate areas, sow in spring or fall. In tropical areas, sow year round. Seeds need light to germinate, so do not plant too deep. Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. Use the young leaves in salad or cook lightly. Stalks are eaten fresh or cooked. Sow seeds in spring/ summer after last frost in a warm, sunny location. The seed coat is hard and should be soaked in warm water for 24 hours. This special hybrid pak choi has dark red leaves with green undersides. At maturity the petioles are light green. It has a delightful flavor. A colorful addition to a microgreens mix. Optimum growing temperatures are in the 60s?F. Exposure to frost or prolonged temperatures below 50?F may result in bolting. Mulch fall crops to avoid premature bolting. Most vegetables leave having purple color is called anthocyan" which is generally developed by lower temperature. Growing temperatures 50-60?F should be adequate to develop "anthocyan" after the seeds have germinated. We cannot tell exactly how long exposure should be under low temperatures.
