Leisure Cilantro Seeds. Whole Seeds (not split). AKA: Chinese Parsley, coriander or yan sui. Annual. Open pollinated, Heirloom, Non-GMO Seeds. Coriandrum sativum. 35 to 45 days to maturity. Cool season annual. This beauty heart" type Chinese radish is the most popular variety grown in the middle and northern parts of China. It is also call watermelon radish. This variety is globe-shape, green shoulder with dark pink flesh. Because of their color, they are the perfect radishes to carve into flower shapes as garnish. It has a crisp texture and is mild and sweet flavored. Try eating fresh. Just thinly slice, top with fresh squeezed lime and a little salt and pepper or with sugar. For fall season sowing only. Watermelon Seeds - Hime Kansen - Hybrid. Non-GMO. Citrullus vulgaris. AKA baby size watermelon, ice-box size watermelon. 95 Days. Warm season annual. This Japanese icebox watermelon is the perfect size to fit in a fridge and has been a specialty for long time in Japan. It has firm dark red flesh and green skin with dark green stripes. It has an extremely thin rind (3/16) and excellent shipping ability. It has a high Brix count of 12.5-13 and weights 5-6 lbs. The fruit has a slightly oblong shape. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in late spring/summer after last frost in a warm, sunny location. Soil temperatures below 50?F can slow growth. Consider using black plastic and fabric row covers to speed soil warming. Sandy or light-textured soils that warm quickly in spring are best. Sow 3 seeds per hill and space hills 3' apart. Harvest when fruit area touching ground turns yellow or when the tendril closest to the stem turns brown or dried. A mature watermelon will have a dull "plunk" sound when thumped. In the case of watermelon, basically 1 vine 1 melon (It doesn't mean 6 vines 6 fruits). You could harvest the second one but it would be difficult and take long time. We usually advise to set the first fruit on the third female flower that appears between the 16th - 21st leaf node to get a better quality fruit. The Chinese Snake Curved cucumber is the curved variation of Chinese Snake cucumbers. It has strong vines that yield long curved cucumbers. Fruits are dark green and grow to be 15-18� in length. They are disease resistant and quite growable at home. Seeds can be sown indoors and transplanted outside after the final frost or sowed directly outside in full sun in the spring. Harvest individual cucumbers as they reach full size around 65-75 days after sowing. After harvest, these long cucumbers and easy to slice and make a great addition to salads and dishes with their crisp but tender taste.
Brassica rapa Narinosa Group. Non-GMO. Red Tatsoi makes a lovely microgreen as well as a terrific full size cool season asian green. As a microgreen the cotyledons open green and change to a reddish purple on about day 4. It germinates quickly and is ready for harvest in 7 - 10 days. For the best color give cool temperatures. Outside in areas with a cool summer, plant in late spring in full sun. Red Tatsoi is a wonderful additional to the fall garden, overwintering in mild climates. Grow undercover for early spring harvests in cold winter areas.
Pickling Melon Seeds - Green Striped. Heirloom, Cucumis melo var conomom. Alt names: ??ao shima uri, bai gua, cai gua, Chinese white cucumber, pickling melon, tsit kwa, uet kwa, yue gua. NonGMO. Warm season annual. 70 days to maturity. The rich, green and white striped fruits resemble large cucumbers and mature to 18 long. The flesh is white, very thick and has been used for kazu-zuke or nara-zuke--a pickling recipe over a thousand years old. Needs a warm climate to thrive. Prepare fertile, well drained soil. Sow seeds in late spring/early summer after last frost in a warm, sunny location. Hill planting: Form soil into a 1' diameter mound 3-4" tall. Space mounds 3-5' apart. On each mound plant 2-3 seeds. Row planting: See spacing info in chart. Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. Train to climb a vertical support for better air circulation and ease of harvest or leave to sprawl on the ground. Promote lateral branching. Hand pollination may be required. Vines can grow up to 10' long. For best flavor, harvest before skin turns white. Colorful and sweet, these bite-sized, deep red cherry tomatoes can be harvested over a long growing season with steady fruit set. They resist cracking and are particularly disease resistant to fusarium wilt race 1 and TMV. The fruits are very sweet with a 9-10 brix degree in sugar content.
